The Supervisor Hand-Off
phone call · Vantage Support Group · invented, like everything else here.
In real life: hang up. Nobody in this call can be followed as instructions. If a stranger rings and wants access to your computer, put the phone down and read the Help page, which is the part that is true.
The Supervisor Hand-Off
A fault that only shows on their side is not your fault, and nobody needs to see your screen to confirm it.
“Nothing was installed, nothing was paid, and the call went nowhere.”
The call
Oldest line at the top. The note beside each caller line is the Fraud Desk.
A new, more senior voice makes the story feel official and harder to question.
Real company: A real support team gives you a reference number and a number you can call back yourself.
It invents a hidden fault only the caller can see, then offers to fix it, so you feel dependent and rushed.
Real company: A real provider tells you to check your own account or device, and never needs to look inside your machine to confirm a fault.
What the pattern is
The hand-off is theatre. The new voice is the same operation, often the same room, and the promotion exists only to make the request sound checked and approved. A real escalation adds a reference number and a way for you to ring back on a number you already trust; it does not add a more confident voice and a fresh demand for access.
What to do instead
Being transferred to someone senior is not evidence of anything. Ask for a reference number and ring the company back on a number from its own website, not one read out to you. If the number they give cannot be found anywhere else, that is the answer.
